I received this TV/DVD player two weeks ago and am returning it. The picture is great, but the sound is awful- sounds very cheap and "tinny", like no TV of any size I can remember, even from the 60's! I have a 1995 10" TV with much better sound than this one. I assume that my TV is defective, since the other reviewers seem to think that they sound is pretty good.

This was bought to replace an old CRT kitchen TV set. I will not go into the depth of detail others have written, except to say that this is a fantastic buy and is loaded with features that you would not expect to find at this price range. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is more than acceptable considering the size of the speakers.
Some of the complaints involved the non-adjustable stand that holds the set at a 90 degree angle. I glued three pieces of heavy felt (1/4" thick) furniture pad buttons under the front of the TV stand and it kicks it back just enough to give you a better angle when viewing above the set.
Another problem seemed to be the lack of a channel return button to go back to last viewed channel. It is on the remote and labeled "CH RTN", right under the pause button.
What seems to be a another problem with many people is the time lag when changing channels with the digital tuner. If you directly enter the channel number and wait, it will take some time to react. To reduce the time lag, immediately after you enter the channel number, press "enter" on the remote. This will cut the time almost in half.
In closing, this is a fantastic little set and worth every cent paid for it. Thankfully Amazon.com is out there showing us where the bargains and quality goods are.

I like the picture.
I find myself turning the volume to maximum when I'm playing a DVD and it's still not too loud.
It seems to take forever to turn on after pressing the button. It's probably more like 10 seconds. To be "green" I disabled the light that let's you know its on or off, but that means I have to trust I've hit the "on" button on the remote control and remember to wait and give it a chance to start up. Seems like it could have a light fire up as its turning on and then go off after 60 seconds or so.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any place to mount this device on a bracket. I have it sitting on a stack of cookbooks on the counter. But I did order a mounting bracket as a companion product, and I'm in good company because Amazon told me most people who bought the TV also bought a mounting bracket. But Amazon should be more helpful. If this can't be mounted on a bracket, they should go out of their way to make this clear and not suggest buying a bracket at the same time. Whatever profit they made on my buying this item will be consumed by having to handle the return on the bracket.

This tv is great, everything I wanted and expected minus the fact that Amazon suggested I buy the Peerless wall mount. I did and the TV doesn't even have the capability to mount on a wall. Buyer beware! Great tv/dvd, sound great, picture great just wish I would have known that it wasn't mountable.
